Hello everyone, I live on the Arve river in Geneva city center and I set as personal challenge to fish at least one trout before winter. The river just got fishable again after the summer (water from Mont Blanc glacier). I’ve been fishing with small black sstreamers and si king tip for days now without any luck. Any tips for this kind of river? Anyone from the region that could help me out? Thank you!

I’m not from Geneva but good luck on your mission! Also beautiful rod, something to fall in love and get married!
Looks like a great spot for trout spey/single hand spey. Is it part of the Rhine? I have visited the black forest area a few times.
If you want to stick with the streamer approach, I would make sure to very your presentation styles and try to cover as much water as possible. I would also recommend trying a few other colors like sculpin tan or olive.
Otherwise you might want to try fishing nymphs under some type of suspension device (bobber, dry fly or otherwise), and make sure you’re getting deep enough. If you’re not losing flies on the bottom occasionally, you’re probably not getting down to the substrate where fish often hold.
Good luck and have fun!
Not anywhere near you but…. If streamers aren’t working if go small, perditions and midges or the equivalent insects in the area.
Looking at that first picture I’d run a double nymph right along the seam of the main current. Start at the tail end and cart upstream. Throw 10 casts and move up 5 steps. Repeat.
Nice streamers mate
I’m not from there and never been, but firstly, do you know if there actually are trout in the river? If there are trout, 2nd step is to match the hatch, when you get to the river before even setting up your rod spend a good 20-30mins looking for bugs, look under rocks in the water, look for bugs near the edge of the water and look for bugs on the surface of the water, when you find those bugs, pick flies that best match the size, look and pattern.
Also look for fish activity, if the fish are rising, then your best bet is fishing dry flies, if the fish aren’t rising then you need to go deep to where they are in the water column.
Good luck 🤞
