I posted these pics of the perch I caught local to me both very small and under 1lbs. I used my finger and thumb to lip the fish and my other three fingers to support the majority of its body I am struggling to see the issue with what I did?

When they get fatter, this can put a lot of pressure on their jaw and damage their mouth. For a perch that size it shouldn’t really be an issue, especially if it’s only a quick photo.
Ignore the idiots. Dont do it on big fish, but there’s nothing wrong with how you held this one.
its a perch, not a bass. but when its this size that shouldnt be too much of a problem
It’s definitely fine for a fish like this. But I think the general rule is just for safety to be honest. Here in Canada, we have some gigantic monsters in our lakes with razor sharp teeth like Muskies, Pike etc… You’d be saying goodbye to your fingers if you did this haha.
