Caught a decent Zander on street fishing session today, would like to praise an old G. Loomis NRX rod that I’ve used today.

Long story short, there was absolutely no contacts for few hours, so in a little despair I retied to a tiny mosquito hook (Owner Mosquito Light #1), and started to search for perch. Until current appeared (dam activity), so fish started to be active. Cast for ~40 metres, bottom touch – twitch – SLAM!!! It took me about 10 minutes to get the fish in hands, hook was chewed like a staple, it just broke when I started to extract it from the fish jaw. What really did its job for 100% was the rod itself, every pressure from the fish was eaten in a moment, in comparison to some of my JDM rods and even smaller fish… well, looks like I’ve finally understood the value of G.Loomis rods.

Just to mention, I don’t use landing net.

Fish: 60cm, around 3kg.
Rod: NRX 822S DSR
Line: SeaBass MaxPower 0.8PE
Leader: Fluoro 10lb
Reel: high end C3000SHG

Tight lines, people! 🎣
