Hello! I’m planning to try for a striped bass from the beach for the first time this weekend. I was going to tie my own high low rigs, but I see at bass pro the striper rigs have these red pieces on them. Are these necessary and do they serve any purpose other than attracting the fish by sight?
The water is very murky where I’ll be fishing and I don’t want the day to be wasted if this is a necessary piece to have, so I’m just wondering if I should go pick some of these up?

Definitely not necessary
Fish finder rig or a three way swivel with like 2-3’ of leader to a snelled hook is all you need
