Absolutely love this little travel setup. Picked up one a few months ago and it has been great for trout in the area. Decided to grab one more as a backup. 4’6” 5 piece ultralight rod with the Daiwa Strikeforce 1000 reel. $49 at my local Walmart

Daiwa has made these travel kits in various incarnations since about the mid 1970s. There has also always been a push-button spincast version (called Mini-Cast). I have kept them under the seats in my trucks for decades for unplanned fishing sessions. The only bad thing about them is the latches eventually break off the lids. I always end up wrapping bungee cords around them to keep them shut.
