Hey y'all. I've been saltwater fishing for a couple years. Nothing too crazy or competitive. Just a simple eat what I catch type of person. But my fishes never get bigger than about a foot or so. Is the only way if catching bigger fish is going further out sea or is it the bait I use? Thanks for the help.

In my experience you gotta go off shore
it’s not necessarily a 100% absolute rule, but bigger fish tend to like deeper water, and bigger baits will attract bigger fish. There are plenty of big fish that travel close to shore, though… but you didn’t give your location to even know what fish those might be or what techniques might work.
