I have 50lb braid tied to a 45lb steel leader but unsure what to do getting this “direct to mainline” with the leader. Most people say don’t use a snap swivel, so I cut it off and now I’m left with a problem. I don’t have single thread cables for the tie offs so I was hoping this 50lb mono would be short enough between the leader and popper to kinda mitigate the risk of being cut. This was like my 4th try, couldn’t get the ends any closer so this is what I ended up with. I could do direct to braid if I knew there were bass only but the spots I go are known to have pike. This is just a temporary solution till something arises just to get some casts in, not necessarily targeting them yet per-say

Just use a snap swivel dawg what,
This is such a strange way to do it
You don’t use a snap swivel unless you have to. This is a situation where you have to, sort of. It should be just a snap. The swivel should be on one end of the leader with a snap on the other end.
