A good reel and a meh rod is a good combination. It depends on what you are fishing for though.

It will be fine, but you won’t have a lot of line capacity.

Get yourself a ugly stick. They are awesome have a five year guarantee and can bend in half without breaking and for 35-45$ they are a good price. I’ve used them for 35 years or so never broke one.

I would say to lower your line to like 10lb max 12lb. It will match up better w your reel and rod and you will get increased casting range and sensitivity. Biggest issue would be that 15lb mono will cause you more tangles since it’s thicker and has memory
