Hey guys, so I started fly fishing a few weeks ago. I've been using poppers and so far have gotten a few fish. I'm wondering what would be an alternative fly to use for bass and panfish, maybe some kind of streamers or something.
I know spin fishing inside and out but I'm a complete noob at fly fishing.
I'm using a 5 weight rod by the way.

Poppers and one of clouser/deceiver/kreelex will cover your bases.
A net.
Lmao flies wise baitfish patterns and poppers are my go to for spring-fall
In the winter I’ll give them a break and chase suckers, carp, and trout. If you want to fish for them in the winter crayfish patterns with sinking line, and slooooooww retrieves will be best
Poppers are one of my favorites for bass – good top water action.
In some ponds I find I get hits by casting, popping once, and then just leaving it sit for a minute or two. Takes patience but sometimes it fools a wary bass.
Friendly reminder to keep hands wet as much as possible and do everything you can to keep the fish’s slime layer intact. No biggie as everyone’s gotta learn, just letting you know that putting them in the grass isn’t great for them. Tight lines and good luck as you learn!
Btw, olive woolly bugger all the way.
Pat’s rubber legs has worked well for me. Don’t ask me why. I have no idea what they think it is 😂
Side note. Bass are fun but, if you want to get into fly fishing don’t sleep on trout! There’s a reason they’re the go to for fly fishing. Good luck!
Wooly bugger, cluster minnow, crayfish and diving bug patterns
