Did you know young smallmouth like to hide in riffles and sip nymphs too?
Nobody touched my big orange hopper, but plenty of customers on the size 14 Walt’s worm I was trailing behind. Urban creek in the months between trout stocking. A grip of smallies is a nice change from all the panfish.

Very few bass in lakes and none in rivers near me so never fished them, but would assume especially when small they act like trout.
