I know nothing- trying to get into fly fishing still, here is the description:
Custom Fly Rod – 5wt – 9’0” – metallic green – IM12 japanese toray blank – fast action
Any red flags or things I should check first? It would be shipped, so I can’t check it out first. He wants $210 for it.

Cast action for a newbie would not be my first choice. Moderate or moderate-fast would be the better way to go. Helps you learn to cast easier than a fast blank which is not as forgiving.
If I were guessing, I’d say that the blank is from Leichi (Maxcatch is their online retail arm). Maxcatch tends to identify their rods in the way this one is identified. No experience with the blank personally, so no thoughts there.
Looks like an alibaba blank. I haven’t cast one, but it’s probably fine. It looks well built enough just with lower grade components – but that’s what you should expect at this price point.
Go to a fly shop and get an entry level rod. If you don’t have access to a shop go online to a retailer and buy one. You’re probably about to buy a rod that’s built on a $75 blank at best.
Find a local fly shop, I just bought an orvis Clearwater rod for 250 and tax
Reddington vice rod (just rod) or Crosswater outfit (rod, reel, line) are both $200 and would be much better
