I just received a new 120L aquarium (8 mm glass, 45 cm tall), and I noticed something unusual about how it’s built.
Some of the front panels meet at a 45° angle (like a hexagon), but the glass edges don’t seem to be beveled — they look like they’re cut straight at 90° and glued together with silicone filling the gap.
Is this a normal way to build such tanks?
Should the glass edges actually be mitered (cut at 45°) so they fit flush?
I’ve seen several YouTube videos where builders cut the glass at 45° before gluing, especially on larger aquariums (hundreds of liters). That made me wonder if my 120L tank should have been made the same way.
The silicone looks clean — no bubbles or cracks — but I’m a bit worried about long-term strength and safety, since this tank is 45 cm tall.
