This trumpet pod normally sat at the back of my tank.
My Apistogramma had been missing for about 4 days and I was beginning to think he had died where I couldn’t find him. Was just looking at some loaches when I saw the orange tail wriggling.
Managed to break the pod open with some wire cutters without hurting him. A very spooked but otherwise fine fish came out.
If anyone is buying these as botanicals, just be aware what fish you are putting in there. My shrimp and kuhli loaches love them (who I had gotten them for originally). But looks like other fish can wedge themselves in there too. Lots of other botanicals available that aren’t as easy to get stuck in.
Thankfully he’s up swimming around and eating with nothing but some ragged fins to show for it. Last couple of pictures are him normally.
