What would be a good fly rod for NY salmon, “steelhead”, and browns?

Hey all,

Here is an atlantic salmon for your viewing. In return, I am looking for a beefier rod for an annual fall trip to NY. I caught this on a borrowed 10 ft 6 wt. I am leaning towards a 10 ft 8 wt or a switch rod. For location, think the oak, burt dam, sandy creek, etc. Thank you.
