Well it’s not really a secret just for Putah creek, but it works everywhere. Fish all the water.
I was up at Putah creek on Tuesday right downstream from the bridge and there was a good amount of pressure.
However, I was astounded that basically everyone was fishing a single deep run or two and completely skipping over great areas(although faster moving and less deep). I saw maybe two other people besides myself catch fish. Meanwhile I was hitting 2-3 feet deep fast pocketwater and couldn’t grab my net fast enough I prob landed 15-16 fish in 3 hours ranging from 9-15 inches
I just want to put this out there for others to consider you don’t need to fish that deep tempting tail out or pool to catch fish.
I’m sure others know this but I couldn’t help but laugh at the irony of it in the moment. I heard one person refer to it as a terrible day, and I just couldn’t believe it.
