Betta Fish: Poor Girl

I’m sorry for the blurry pictures, my hands shake. She has one blind eye and her fins are nipped pretty badly.

I go to this fish store right down the road from my house weekly to either buy some fish or plants, or simply just to chit chat with the owner. He had brought this little thing to my attention since he knows how much of a Betta fan I am, and he knows I have a soft spot for all animals.

He had gotten her a week ago along with 3 of her sisters and all were doing fine in the 50 gallon shallow, heavily planted tank. Until they started picking on her and nipping at her fins and all she ever did was try to get away. Poor girl didn’t even try to fight back. So he had moved her into her own little tank and gave me a call! He had given her to me at no charge at all and said if I needed any medicine or extras for her to hop on over and he’ll give them at no charge as well.

So, now I have her all by herself in a plant pot originally set up for shrimp breeding! The pot itself is a little over 5 gallons with shallow points in the front, which seems to be her go to hangout spot, and a nice little dip in the back with plants to hide in or lay on, a small heater and some bubbles to play in! Once she’s feeling better and back to health I’ll be moving her into my, very peaceful, 48 gallon community tank where she’ll live the rest of her life in luxury!
