Im a beginner in fishing and i was given a reel from a vacated aprtment that has probably been there for a very long time. Does anyone know if the reel is any good and worth keeping? The rod that i was given thats attached is pretty bad from my little bit of research.

When brand new, this is a $20 reel. So this one is worth $2
While the reel isn’t worth anything, it will catch fish fine. Ide use it till it breaks then go get a new one
The line on the reel is too thick, and old. Your gonna want new line on it
it’s probably not great tbh but might be ok for a total beginner? i’d just use it until it breaks and then upgrade when you know what you actually want.
Its a rubbishy reel…but lets be honest it’ll still do a decent job…
Clean it up fill the spool with good lienand it’ll catch as many fish as a brand new $200 reel…
It might not be as pleasurable to use…but a good reel will make zero difference to how many fish you catch
