Got what I thought was a good deal on a new Garmin Striker Vivid 4CV and looking for any useful tips before jumping right in. Got it on sale and used a discount code from Academy sports totaling $140.
It’ll be my first time setting up and using a fish finder and just looking for any helpful tips y’all might have come across! It will likely spend most of its life on fresh water lakes. (Midwest)

Turn on A-Scope. And if you use it for icefishing, use traditional mode – not the flasher mode – and get yourself the icefishing transducer.
I got a waterproof small hard case from harbor freight and some waterproof rubber cable grommet thing and put the battery in there is have a 10′ pedal drive kayak and used a cup holder mount for my phone (drilled it) to attach the finder same model as you my kayak came with a under the boat mount spot. Ended up switching the mount to one of the rails (me fat) nothing to do with the finder love it
