Carolina rig. Main line ties to one end, then a leader with the hook on it to the other end. We use them in bass fishing to slllooowww drag plastics on the bottom. I’m sure other types of fishing use them as well.

Use them for surf fishing while fishing a Carolina rig. The weight rubs on the metal and not your line, preventing break offs
