(Don’t mind the mold on the wood)
So this morning I literally caught a damselfly molting out of the water in one of my tanks. Honestly, what a way to start the day. I did not expect to wake up and immediately start chasing a bug around with a knife…

I have no idea how these things keep getting in. Like, I don’t even live near a lake. I’m in the middle of a city, hours away from anything that even resembles a natural body of water, and yet somehow the nymphs keep showing up like they pay rent.

What kills me is that my overly aggressive male gourami refuses to eat them. This is the same dude who literally splashes water at my face when I get too close. But a wriggly, meaty nymph? “Nah, that’s not food.” Seriously??

I’ll give them one tiny bit of credit: they’ve absolutely demolished my pest snail population. But now I’m panicking because I can’t stop wondering, can damselfly nymphs carry diseases? I had a full outbreak in one tank and used special tweezers to remove them, but the person watching my tanks while I was on vacation used those same tweezers in my “clean” tanks.

So now I’m here, staring at my aquariums, basically wondering if they just accidentally cross-contaminated everything.
