That’s normal. There’s actually a reason you want some minor play in that area. If you had no play at all, it would easier seize. Same reason you have play in the line guide area. However, the old Daiwa Steez platform has a very “mushy” button, so to speak. Doesn’t bother me, but it’s the only thing that they really should have fixed on a reel at that price point. The rest of the designs are refined as refined can be. I much prefer the 24 Steez thumbbar, but you won’t have any issues whatsoever from the old generation thumbbar either.
What I will say though, if the play worsens, it’s an abnormality.
