Looking for some stocking suggestions as well as some general advice/thoughts on my setup.
This is my first aquarium I've put together as an adult. Both my wife and I had aquariums in our rooms as kids and wanted to do the same, so this is in our 2-month-old son's room, and he seems to love it (ok, maybe any 2-month-old would love a brightly lit box with shiny moving things in it).
I started with a used Fluval Roma 90 (90L/24gal) I found locally that also came with the plants you can see in the pictures (cast-offs from the previous owner's upgrade) but no filter, light, or top. For filtration I got a small internal filter pump that feeds into acrylic boxes I got off AliExpress with bio-media and some peace lilies planted in them. I also got a Weekaqua M-series light. I am in London so the water is a little hard, I test regularly and other than the water hardness everything looks good.
Currently in the tank are: 5 Cherry Barbs, 5 White Cloud Minnows, 9 male Endlers, 6 Peppered Corys, 5 Amano Shrimp, 1 Nerite Snail, Malaysian Trumpet Snails (probably came with the plants)
The initial plan was to add a pair of Peacock Gudgeons as centerpiece fish, but I've gone off that idea. Both my kiddo and I like the movement and activity of smaller fish over a couple of statement fish. The Corys have been the most fun to watch, so I'm leaning toward more of them.
What should I add? Here are the main things I am considering, happy for other ideas as well.
- A: +2 Peppered Corys (8 total), 6 Celestial Pearl Danios, +1 Endler (10 total)
- B: +3 or 4 Peppered Corys (9 or 10 total)
- C: +2 Peppered Corys (8 total), +6 Endlers in different color strains (15 total)
Slightly concerned about overstocking with all those options, and happy for any feedback on the overall setup.
