Almost got skunked yesterday. Got out early in the morning on my Malibu PDL. No bites, nothing. Tried many different techniques, lures, baits, shrimp Nothing.
I was about to head home at lunch time. So got my sandwich out and left a line out drifting a carolina rig with a 5inch swimbait. As soon as I take the first bite of my sandwich, BOOM. Big strike from Calico. Then bite was on. Bite, bite, sandwich got full of saltwater lol. Then BOOM sandbass hits the swimbait. And that was it. Quiet again as if nothing ever happened.
Turned the Bixpy on and got back to the bay. Tried my luck at the bay to see if I could get a spottie. Nothing.
Oh well. Beautiful day. Slow, yet beautiful and two nice fish.
The Bixpy battery was still half full after 5 miles at full speed and a bit of use here and there while fishing. Very happy with the setup on the Malibu PDL and absolutely love how nimble and fast this kayak is. 3~3.5mph super easy walking effort pedaling, 4mph pedaling moderate effort, 4.5mph on bixpy full speed (no pedaling), 5mph bixpy half speed and pedaling, 5.5mph bixpy full speed and pedaling, sometimes 6mph.
Time for a break I think. Time to hit freshwater trout maybe and give the saltwater time to recover, and myself. It has been a great season.
