Bought a few micro jigs (15-40g) recently on a sale to try out for some shore jigging either in the surf or off jetties (primarily targeting surf perch, striper, possibly rock fish).
I’ve watched a few videos online to get the basics, but I’m a little confused on assist hook placement. Most of my jigs came with a hook on either side, but I see many people online putting two hooks at the “front” of the jig and nothing on the back.
Is there a reason for these different configurations? I’m guessing one might be better for vertical jigging? Any tips would be appreciated!
