Alright, real questionā¦
Iāve fished a ton of bladed jigs over the years ā JackHammers, Thunder Crickets, SteamRollers, Amazon mystery specials ā but Iāve never actually thrown the Berkley Slobberknocker.
Just got a small care package from Berkley and havenāt even cracked them open yetā¦ but the name alone already has me laughing like a 12-year-old.
Still ā these things actually look pretty dang legit sitting in the package.
The two I got in:
- Herring
- All White (my go-to anytime bass start smashing shad)
The head shape is way different than a standard ChatterBait, the blade attaches THROUGH the head, and everyone says the vibration is tighter and faster.
But before I start ripping these out of the package and putting them to workā¦
Anyone here actually fished a Slobberknocker?
- Is it worth tying on over a JackHammer?
- Any sleeper colors or sizes I should grab?
- Howās it handle grass, wood, and junk cover?
Iām working on a full breakdown for a video + blog, so Iām curious what real-world anglers think before I start filming and testing.

this has to be one of the worst bait name ever.
What does it means in English?
Finally threw one the other day. Not impressed. Iāll stick to anything Zman (even Bass Pro Zman version) before I buy any more of these. I got it for $6 of Amazon so I figured Iād give it a try.
I have a couple of these, I’ve never had trouble with them getting hung up in grass or wood. The biggest difference I’ve noticed with them over a Jackhammer is the blade requires a little more speed to get going. They’re good for what they are, but they’re not replacing Jackhammers anytime soon.
They are okay. They remind me of the old booyah melee bladed jigs. They seem to run a little shallower & they dont clear weeds as easily as a jackhammer when ripping them in the weeds.
I prefer my jackhammers, but I still keep a couple around because they do feel like they vibrate a little different. I throw them when I know people are hammering the body of water with jackhammers to give them something slightly different.
Is this a weird paid ad? Theyāve been out for a couple of years now, Iām sure theyāre fine. The name is dumb and Iāll keep throwing my z-man jigs.
I have one. Tied it on a few times but I don’t think I ever saw it hit. But then again – fish around here see way too many bladed jigs (and ploppers) to react to them.
Slobberknocker is a very known and common term, and always has been. Donāt see how itās a *crying laughing* emoji situation
