Seeing a pretty good deal for two of these reels locally. I’ve used Shimano and daiwa in the past. 2 of these for $125. My pops and I surf fish in Southern California, so a good long cast is always nice. Do these hold up? Are they decent casters?? Thanks everyone 🙂

Couldn’t find too much on this reel in previous posts.

  1. I’m actually extremely curious too. After all, casting reels, unlike spinning reels, literally cannot be fully sealed due to the inherent design.

And thus, I’ve seen every reel manufacturer try different things for their saltwater models. Some companies seal as much as they can. Some reel companies use more salt resistant components. I’m not sure which strategy is the best though.

Lew’s strategy here seems to be passivation treatment of the gears, double shielded bearings and drain holes. I wonder how well this works.
