I'm fairly new to fishing but this looks different from other LMBs I've caught. The tounge does have a rough patch but, I would not expect to find this fish in an Arizona canal. Is it a spotted bass?

You should NEVER EVER kill anything if you can’t identify it, it’s a great to get stuck with a heavy fine or jail time.

Smallie and I would second what the other commenter said to make sure to ID whatever fish you’re planning to keep to avoid any fines.
