Ugly Stik arrived in pieces. Can it be reassembled, or is it actually broken?

My mother bought me an Ugly Stik for Christmas, but gave it to me early to see if I could salvage it. Amazon refunded her money, so it’s no big deal if I can’t.

I can’t see anything that actually looks broken, but I also can’t secure any of the pieces together. Can you tell if something’s missing? Is there a trick to latching them together?
