Am looking put sand in my fish tank but I have gravel in it do I just put sand over the gravel or take gravel out. ?

So how i did it to avoid crashing my tank.. I scooped out all the gravel from the front, added sand to the tank to cover up the gravel. Make sure you use washed and wet. Use a cup. I can explain further if you want. To keep your tank from being to cloudy.
