What are your thoughts on some of these garage bait brands? I recently got into freshwater fishing and have been spending good money on the hype lures. The problem is, when the lure arrives, it often looks nothing like the photo. These are marketed as “hand-poured resin baits,” but the photos they post are polished versions, and what you actually receive can look pretty rough.
When I reached out to one company to ask if the quality of my lure was an issue, they responded in a very arrogant way, basically saying, “It catches fish.” Honestly, if I saw that level of quality on a table at a lure show, I wouldn’t even pick it up. Am I overreacting?
I’ve attached some photos of the lure I received—would you be happy with this quality after paying $120 USD? On the other hand, I’ve had great experiences with other brands. Some have even emailed me proactively to say that insects landed in the paint during curing, and they wouldn’t ship the bait until it was sanded down and resealed. That’s the level of care I expected.
