I've been fly fishing for about more then a year, and I still don't know what's the purpose of these flaps with holes in them? If anyone can give me tips or tricks about these that would be appreciated. Thank you for your time and for my stupidity

Some brands have multiple options to attach various accessory bags to existing bag systems. For instance, using a backpack, but attaching something to the chest to hold your flies, tipit, forceps, etc.
I know they exist, but too poor to have one.
