Hello, I’ve had my betta fish for about a month now. It took me about a month to cycle the tank, and I’ve been sticking to weekly 20% water changes. I last changed the water Monday, and I noticed a few minutes ago that he’s developing what I assume is fin rot(?). I had a silk plant for him to rest on (rest of his plants are all real), and I took it out right when I saw his fins. I’ve ordered kanaplex and a couple almond leaves that should get here Friday. Any other help would be appreciated!!
• Tank size: 10 gallon
• Heater and filter? (yes/no): sponge filter and a heater set to 80
• Tank temperature: 80
• Parameters in numbers and how you got them. Key water parameters include the amount of ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, and pH.: 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, 0 nitrates, 7.0 pH
• How long have you had the tank? How long have you had your fish?: I’ve had him for about a month, and cycling the tank took me over a month
• How often are water changes? How much do you take out per change? What is your process?: 20% water changes every Monday
• Any tankmates? If so, please list with how many of each: no tankmates
• What do you feed and how much: cycle between Bug Bites, Betta Pro Shrimp Patties, frozen bloodworms, and frozen brine shrimp
• Decorations and plants in the tank: I had a singular silk plant in there that I’ve just taken out, the rest are live plants and a couple of hides

It doesn’t look like fin rot to me, more like his tail got snagged on something, possibly the silk plant that was in there. I definitely would keep an eye on it since it can develop into fin rot, but as long as you monitor him and add the almond leaves, he should be fine. I would hold off the kanaplex unless you start seeing signs of definite fin rot.
It’s hard to tell in the video but there’s also some reddish brown discoloration around the tear in his the middle of his fin.
