Hi – I'm trying to plan a kayak/camping trip on the Big Bend saltwater paddling trail. Just an out-and-back for a couple nights, launching from Horseshoe Beach, FL and camping on Butler Island. I've been in the area before but never in this specific spot. I know that you need to reserve the camping spot with the State, but don't know much about the launch points. The red circles are just possible launch points I found by looking at the map.
I also understand that the area was hit pretty hard by Helene so I do plan to call their City Hall and ask a few questions before we go.
If anyone has experience launching from the town and/or camping on Butler Island – trying to figure out if there is an area we can park a couple vehicles overnight after we launch? Also would be interested in general observations/experience fishing in the area if anyone has any insights. Thx.
