Since November, I have been having the worst time fly fishing. Temp changes, temperaments and feeding habits change, hugging the bottom and not chasing is norm when it gets cold. At least here. But today I didn’t catch the skunk. I got a decent ol’ hog! 23” and 4.6lbs. My new PB by about 6oz or so. This guy freaked me out! He bolted up stream instead of down for quite a good run, then out of nowhere he shoots straight back at me! I’m reeling line in faster, then just started stripping the slack. Thought I lost it as it swam around my legs and I’m holding the rod as high as I can to keep tight line. Almost lost it getting in the net because it almost had to fold like a taco to fit. Any day fly fishing is a good day. Today was a really good day.
