This is my buddy Arbys.
He seems like a happy dude. Very active and loves to build his bubble nests by his floating log. He’s a big boy with a bad attitude and I love him!
I’m looking to upgrade to a larger tank; from 5 gallon to a 10 gallon so he can truly have the space he deserves.
Do I use my current tank’s water plus add more? Start the new tank and wait for it to cycle on its own? I’d like to keep my plants from my 5 gallon as well. Would I want to use the same gravel and add to fill the new tank size?
Sorry I’m new but trying my best ;___;

Put him in a separate holding area, this can be a small spare tank, a cup with TANK water, tupper ware, bowl etc while you move everything to the new tank. This prevents you from accidentally hurting him when moving stuff from the old tank to the new one.
Use current 5gal from tank & 5 gal of DECHLORINATED water. MAKE SURE you add the 5gal filter into the 10gal. Do NOT wash it out – keep it wet so the bacteria stays alive.
You can transfer the substrate and plants as well.
