Betta Fish: What is the best way to transfer fish?

Hey there!! I’m a college student which means I go home during winter break.. my betta fish lives in my dorm but I’m bringing him home during the month of my break so I wanted to know if there’s any good stress less ways to transfer my betta from my college to home? I live about an hour and a half away. I didn’t know if I should clean his tank and transfer him in his tank? Or if I should find something smaller to put him in for the transfer? If anyone has any advice it would be really appreciated!!
