  1. * **Tank size**: 5 gallons
    * **Heater and filter? (yes/no)**: Yes and yes
    * **Tank temperature**: 70 F
    * [**Parameters in numbers and how you got them**](https://www.reddit.com/r/bettafish/wiki/tank#wiki_test_kits)**. Key water parameters include the amount of ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, and pH.**: PH: 7.5, Nitrite:0, Nitrate:20 using a test strip
    * **How long have you had the tank? How long have you had your fish?**: I’ve had my tank for a little over 3 years, and my fish for 2.75 years.
    * **How often are water changes? How much do you take out per change? What is your process?**: I don’t have a set schedule. This past week, I did a 100% water change. But normally I just use a syphon to take out around 25-40%.
    * **Any tankmates? If so, please list with how many of each**: 1 female nerite snail.
    * **What do you feed and how much**: micro-pellets twice a day
    * **Decorations and plants in the tank**: Silk and live plant, see picture for more info
    * **If you haven’t already posted a picture, please post pics/vids to imgur and paste the link here**: [https://imgur.com/a/XTLkW7b](https://imgur.com/a/XTLkW7b)

  2. With how tattered his fins are I’m assuming it’s fin rot. A couple questions, though:
    1. Why a 100% water change? While that won’t necessarily crash the cycle it’s not typically needed unless in extreme cases.
    2. How long has he looked this way/when did you first notice symptoms?
    3. Symptoms?
    4. Can you test for ammonia? Direct water testing with a tube and drops is far more accurate than strips are.
