Before and after photo of about a week since i refreshed his tank. Plants have frayed alot and the bunch on the left went completely, i thought i rooted them far enough but could it be from my snail maybe eating at the roots? He gets fed as well so surely heâs not going hungry.
Please offer any help with setting the tank out too, maybe i need a new filter or need to root the plants deeper

Mystery snails do that, they also do better in a 10 gallon because of bioload
mystery snails need 10 gal minimum and this looks like a 5 thatâs not even filled up all the way
I recommend keeping an eye on your water parameters in case your tank isnât large enough to support the bioload from the snail. You will need to do some extra water changes to account for that.
It also looks like you are using sand as your substrate. If you have root plants you will need either aqua soil or fertilizer tabs to feed those plants. The snail wonât eat the roots but the plant can starve without nutrients. If you donât want to change your substrate (I donât blame you, itâs a PITA) or buy root tabs then I recommend sticking to plants like java fern and anubias that should not be buried in the ground and take nutrients from the water column and not a root plant.
My advice would be to do a light trim halfway, let the cut pieces float in a bucket with a root tab. Let it propagate and replant for healthier growth
Why isnât it filled all the way?
What do you mean refreshed his tank?
