So I recently got back into fish and got a 17 gal planted aquarium and is cycling. A close friend who keeps a lot of fish told me to let it cycle for a week then put my betta in it because the ammonia cycle won’t start with nothing in it. I want to be sure before I do this.

Fish in cycles can be so much quicker but they can be risky. It’ll be better to just dose ammonia to start it and leave it to do it’s thing
Dose ammonia instead using actual ammonia ( I recommend Dr Tims ammonia ) or you can even ghost feed!
