so this is my current setup of my 10 gallon tank tank with the only fish inside being my male tangerine koi betta, akaza. since i first got him about two months ago i’ve realized that whenever im near the tank, he swims against the glass infront of me. it was cute at first, but it’s gotten to the point where i cant even watch him exploring his tank because all he does is swim at the glass infront of me wherever i am. is this normal or is he not enriched enough?

He’s happy to see you.
Does he do this always or just when you are around. If it’s always, probably stress, if only when you are watching, he wants food
In that tank i don’t think he’s lacking Anything (the tank is beautiful), I think he’s just happy/excited to see you. I know that some of them do this because they associate their owners with being fed
“I know you see me. Give me food.”
That’s all this is. Your tank looks nice, always love tannins.
My fish do the same when I approach my tanks as well. He likely just associates you with food. Beautiful tank by the way!
all of my bettas do that too!! i like to think that they are saying hi, but the reality probably is that they associate me with food 😅 i doubt he is unenriched, your tank looks fantastic!
Like others have said, yes. He’s excited to see you as you are the keeper of the nummies. I have 4 bettas currently, they all do this.
