Just add plants! Google how to plant them, wether their roots go under ground or float and just go crazy

Be careful having that thick a cap on your soil it can suffocate it. Ideally you want a thin cap. I had a thick cap and all my plants got root rot especially my amazon swords.
Fluval stratum isn’t actually supposed to be capped which is I think the main one people use. It can reabsorb nutrients from the water collum.

Look for some beginner level plants and you will have less frustration.

Try some floaters and rhizome plants like anubias or java fern. I have red root floaters and an anubias and I find they’re pretty easy

First, take out half of the substrate. Or at least a few inches at the front and then bank it towards the back.
