Brand new out of box, I am really new to fishing although this is getting on my nerves.

So fishing lube is used kind of like oil in a car engine, makes all the parts run smooth

Unscrew the top (that is the drag) all the way
Pull the reel completely off
Clean and re lube the male and female sides

Go grab some fishing lube at your local tackle store and take the reel apart and just dabble it on there and it should be running smooth again, did you lay it down in dirt or sand ?
