What is used as bait is
a mixture of pita bread (Syrian bread) used in every Syrian household.
The bread is crumbled and vanilla sugar is added to it and some water to make a dough.
Then we roll it out on the bait.
We repeat the process every time the bait is consumed.
Yes, we get our fishing rods and clothes dirty.

This looks like a tenkara rod, which is a type of fly fishing from Japan. In the united states we use a similar rod called a crappie (after the fish) pole. It is usually longer than a tenkara rod and does not have the same casting characteristics. Tenkara is cast like in fly fishing and the crappie pole uses its length to lower or flip the lure to the desired location.

  2. Not sure what they call them there the Brits call them whips. There is a small piece of elastic in the top that cushions the fight and they tend to be fished to hand with a float.

  3. That is a hand held rod. They are nice for fishing with a float/bobber. But you fish them pretty close.
I’d rather use a surfcasting beach rod that I launch really far away with a big hard bait and use a spinning rod to fish closer to shore. I’ve even used a bobber on one but I use worms because bread breaks down and I don’t want mullet. They are big and fun but I’m looking for fish I would actually eat.

It also looks like it could be a fancy “poke pole” used for fishing in low tide between rocks and in crevices. You would put a steel leader or like 50lb mono and a hook w/bait.
