Every new rod I purchase gets 2 coats of U40 cork sealer. It keeps them clean, protects from chips and pitting, and I prefer that darker look of the cork. You can really see the difference in the before and after pictures here. These Dobyns Rods are expensive. So do all you can to protect them. 👍🏻 🎣

Does it change how the cork feels much? I like the look and idea of protecting the cork, gonna have to try this.
