Every new rod I purchase gets 2 coats of U40 cork sealer. It keeps them clean, protects from chips and pitting, and I prefer that darker look of the cork. You can really see the difference in the before and after pictures here. These Dobyns Rods are expensive. So do all you can to protect them. 👍🏻 🎣

I like the feeling of a raw dirty cork in my hand
I use Mineax clear matte poly.
I coat my cork with fish slime and dirt
That’s pretty neat, I like the darker look. Makes it look more “wood” like.
