Hello, it's my first ever time fishing and I am having trouble with the line. Whenever I open the bail arm to cast, a lot of line comes off the spool and it is really curly. When I try to reel back the line that came off, it gets all tangled as shown in the pictures.
I asked a guy fishing near me if he knew what to do and he suggested that the line was spooled too tightly, so I will try that later.
Will respooling likely fix the issue, or could it be something else that is the problem, like my casting technique or poor line quality?

Try using braided line!
It doesn’t have any line memory, meaning it won’t make those annoying curls and get tangled.
Braided fishing line also has no stretch, which can help you feel bites quicker.
I would suggest tying a 3-4ft leader to the end of your braided line with a double uni knot. This helps the fish not get scared of the braided line.
Let me know if you have any questions!
Respooling would fix this, if the reel came spooled it’s likely just line memory, soak it in some hot water and tie it back on.
Respool under tension
Likely a result of how you spooled it. Lay the new line spool flat on the ground when you fill your reel. Reel about 10 feet of line on to your reel. Pinch your line at the first eye and pull your line back towards your reel. If the loop you create twists, flip the line spool on the ground over and try again. Reel about 10 feet and test it again – make loop and see if it twists. Should be good once you find the best way to lay the line spool down.
To get the twists out of your reel now is easy if you have a boat or a lot of current in the water you fish. Cut the lure or terminal tackle off. Slowly feed the free line downstream or behind a moving boat. Let about 3/4 of your line out and let it drag for a minute. Slowly reel it in. Should be good to go.
Good luck and keep learning.
I only use braided line, mostly to avoid this.
