I got this 4gal tank set up and ready to be stocked. My original plan is to add neocaridina shrimp to this tank but I saw this beutiful betta at my local fish store, wich I hope to add into my 14gal tank im setting up rn. The problem is that the 14gal still needs some more stuff before I can set it up to cycle and i fear that when the tank is cycled. That the betta id like to get would already be bought by someone else. Would it be alr to add that betta to this tank wich is fully cycled for Abt a month before i add it to my 14gal.

I had a betta in this tank before but he died recently because of old age. Still I fear that the 1 month in this tank would influence the betta I want to buy in some bad way.( there are 2 snails living in the tank rn thats why there are trails of them in the back of the tank)

As long as you be constant water changes this really shouldn’t be a problem. The main concern is that you do not end up selling a 14 gallon and he was there forever. As long as you are sure that the 14 gallon will be set up within a month, it’s probably fine especially since he’s young.

I don’t think it’s a problem to have him in a slightly smaller than than usual tank temporarily, especially since it’s cycled. They live in plastic cups like 80% of the time I see them in shops, and this is definitely an upgrade. Just make sure you have a heater (I just can’t see one so maybe you do) and watch the parameters!

  3. Might want to consider a screen mesh over the gaps in the lid, as a breed bettas are notorious jumpers. Some would never consider getting out of those gaps in your lid, others will make it a life goal
