Hello, this guy was in a community tank with guppies until very recently where he got nipped quite badly. I’ve taken him and put him into a shrimp tank I had running. As you can see his tail is very damaged and I think it’s rotting. He’s quite lethargic, but still eats and comes up to me when I get close to the tank.
I’ve done water changes every two days and added a catappa leaf but his condition doesn’t seem to be improving. I’m in Europe so getting Kanaplex or similar is difficult. I bought Esha 2000 but apparently it doesn’t work with the carbon based filter I have. I don’t mind getting another filter but I’m not sure if that’s the best option with it having to get cycled.
I really want to save this guy, what’s my best course of action?

Is it not possible to remove the carbon in your current filter??
a salt bath may help?
