Betta Fish: Betta Tank/Shrimp Tank Cleaning & Feeding

Hey all!

We’re very much beginners and learning as we go, so thanks in advance for any patience and advice.

We got super lucky and were given an established, fully cycled 10-gallon tank that already included a mystery snail, three large gray shrimp, and ten yellow neocaridina shrimp. It had previously been home to a betta, but the owner was upgrading her setup.
Since then, we’ve added our fish, Blueberry (named by our 6-year-old, of course), a nerite snail, and four additional shrimp in various colors.

We’ve had the tank for about two months now, and as we try to be good fish parents, I’m realizing I have a few questions:

1) What type of betta do we have?
2) We see a lot of discussion about fin health. As far as I can tell, Blueberry’s fins haven’t really changed since we got him. Do they look healthy and normal?

I’m planning to make a separate post about tank cleaning, because honestly, I’m not sure we’re doing that part right yet.
