Short story: I noticed him getting finrot a week after his fin tore on my net somehow. I couldn't treat him for finrot until I was done treating for ick so it got a little bit worse after a week of no treatment. I then did kanaplex but he just keeps getting worse and I've already done three doses. Is he gonna make it out of this? I feel so bad.

Full story: he tore his fin on my net because he already has a hole in his fin when I bought him and it tore all the way through when I netted him for a salt bath. I then started kanaplex and got through a whole three doses and it was starting to heal nicely with no infection. I then bought a couple new guppies for my tank (he already had some guppies in with him in a 20 gallon but I wanted a few more). I later found out one of the guppies had been in a tank with ick but didn't have any spots on him. He infected my entire tank and killed all but my betta and one guppy (he himself also died). I started treating for ick and then a little while later noticed he was starting to get finrot. I couldn't do anything about it until he hadn't had spots for long enough, so the finrot very slowly got worse. Once he was ick free for 4 or 5 days I put him in a hospital tank and did kanaplex again but he only kept getting worse. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong and I really like him and want to give him the best possible shot at living.

FIRST PICTURE IS BEFORE HE STARTED GETTING FINROT (just the tear)
SECOND PICTURE IS WHEN I FIRST MOVED HIM INTO HOSPITAL TANK
THIRD PICTURE IS AFTER KANAPLEX DOSE 2
4TH AND 5TH PICTURE ARE NOW (2 days after my third dose)

    Thank you for posting to r/bettafish.

    When requesting help, please provide the requested information. Answers such as “large enough” or “my paramters are fine” aren’t good enough. Failure to provide adequate information about your tank *can* result in post removal. Please see rule 4 for more information.

    If you are posting to find out what is wrong with your betta, please answer the following questions in a reply to this comment as best you can:

    * **20 galons, now in a 15 gallon hospital tank**:
    * **Heater and filter? (yes)**:
    * **Tank temperature 78-79**:
    * **[Parameters in numbers and how you got them].
    . Ammonia 0 Nitrates and nitrites 0 PH 7 got them tested at J&M aquatics*:
    * **How long have you had the tank? How long have you had your fish? I’ve had the tank for a long time but it is now a hospital tank because it’s very clean and parameters are perfect. Not sure how long I’ve had the fish but not super long**:
    * **How often are water changes? How much do you take out per change? What is your process? 25% water changes every other day because that’s the directions for kanaplex**:
    * **Tank mates? None now (hospital tank) but 5 guppies before**:
    * **What do you feed and how much? Bug bites once a day and I mixed dried bloodworms into it**:
    * **Decorations and plants in the tank. Real plants, one fake decoration of rock pinnacles (no sharp edges at all), and driftwood. Not much since it’s a hospital tank**:
    * **If you haven’t already posted a picture, please post pics/vids to imgur and paste the link here**:
